What is infringements matched to source?

All takedown notification processes (including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act) requires identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed or stolen.
Key to this is specifically identifying URL's from the original (or source) website that have be stolen and reposted without permission.

How to guide on how to list stolen content on takedown notices

Source information declaration - Most takedown notices require clarity and specifics on the ownership and the original (or source) location of the content listed within the takedown notice sent to have content removed that has been stolen and posted without permission.

Takedown case managers at DMCA.com are unable to assume infringing (stolen) content source information. In order to process a takedown notice on your behalf, takedown case workers must be provided source information by content owner, copyright owner or takedown notice author.

It's imperative that we have a complete infringing source list to be sure that all infringing content is removed. We are unable to add to this information after the takedown request has been processed and sent.

Examples the details regarding the infringements that need to be provided:

1. Website text, graphics, images, marketing etc if someone has stolen your website specific content you will need to be specific about what is is and where (what domain / URL) the content was or is stolen from:
   1. Source: www.yoursite.com/specific_webpage_URL.aspx - "your original text URL or image url" (Please note that not ALL text is necessary for each infringement - about 20 words so we can locate is enough)
   2. Right click on the address bar, copy and paste the URL into your case comment
   3. Right click on the address bar, copy and paste the Infringing website URL: www.theirsite.com/specific_webpage_URL.aspx "copied text or copied image url" (matched to above)
   4. Right click on the address bar, copy and paste into your case comment below the Source
2. Images or Video from device - if someone has stolen your images or video(s) from a cell phone, camera, laptop or computer and reposted those images online without your permission, you will need to clearly identify images or video came from the device as the source of the content.

   3. state the source as camera, phone, laptop etc.
